The Friends of Stittsville Wetlands, as a member of the Nature Network, are working alongside Ontario Nature to help spread the word about this inspirational tour in Ottawa on September 15, 2026. Joining the tour is celebrated Inuk singer-songwriter Susan Aglukark – a JUNO award-winning Inuk singer-songwriter, speaker and advocate who shares her experiences as an Inuk growing up in Nunavut, as well as the challenges faced by northern communities and Indigenous youth through her music.
Special guest Terra Lightfoot (in Ottawa only) – is a JUNO and Polaris Music Prize nominated roots-rock singer-songwriter who now lives in the Haliburton area. Terra volunteers with Turtle Guardians to safeguard our reptilian friends.
Across Ontario, communities are facing growing challenges as lands, waters, and wildlife come under increasing pressure from development, resource extraction, and policy changes that weaken environmental safeguards and limit opportunities for meaningful consultation. Indigenous communities are often among the first to experience these impacts and continue to play a leading role in defending nature and advocating for future generations.
The ‘Together for Nature Tour’ launch in Ottawa is an opportunity for Indigenous and non-Indigenous Peoples to come together to raise a chorus of powerful voices for nature across Ontario to support nature and all our relations.
The Together for Nature Tour creates space to hear directly from Indigenous land protectors and youth leaders about what is happening in their homelands, why it matters, and how communities across Ontario can work together to support nature, Indigenous rights, and a healthier future for all.
