The Mississippi Madawaska Land Trust (MMLT) is bringing together music, community, and conservation for its fourth Notes for Nature benefit concert – an intimate evening of exceptional live music in support of protecting local natural areas.
This popular annual event takes place on Saturday, October 17, 2026 at Zion‑Memorial United Church in Carleton Place, and will be headlined by Kellylee Evans, the acclaimed Juno Award‑winning Canadian singer‑songwriter. Evans is known for her dynamic blend of jazz, soul, pop, and hip‑hop and has captivated audiences around the world with her engaging, high‑energy performances and improvisational vocal style. She has shared stages with artists as varied as John Legend, Tony Bennett, Willie Nelson, and Erykah Badu, and has toured extensively through Europe, the US, the Caribbean, and the Middle East.

“Music has a remarkable way of bringing people together,” says Steve Kotze, MMLT President and member of the opening ensemble. “Like time in nature, music can bring us fully into the present, offering a moment of calm and connection amid the challenges of everyday life. Notes for Nature is a great opportunity to connect with old friends, meet new ones, and celebrate the community spirit that makes conservation possible.”
Opening the evening is the talented ensemble, Six Pack, featuring Steve Kotze, Rob Rainer, David Ramsden, Doug Barr, Mary Lou Carroll, and Rebecca Worden. Their performances flow seamlessly from timeless melodies to modern classics, setting the stage for an unforgettable night.
The event will also feature a silent auction with unique items and experiences donated by supporters across the region.
Proceeds from Notes for Nature will support MMLT’s ongoing stewardship and educational activities and help the Land Trust acquire and care for ecologically valuable lands throughout the Mississippi and Madawaska watersheds. MMLT currently stewards 18 properties with over 4,300 acres and has plans to double its conservation impact in the years ahead.
The Notes for Nature benefit concert opens the doors at 6:30pm and the evening of entertainment starts at 7:00pm. Tickets are $50.00 each and support MMLT’s ongoing efforts to acquire and manage ecologically valuable lands for long-term conservation.
