BioBlitz at Aird Creek MapleCross Nature Reserve

Join the Mississippi Madawaska Land Trust (MMLT) for a BioBlitz at their newly protected Aird Creek MapleCross Nature Reserve in the Madawaska Highlands on Matawatchan Road! Pylons and signage will guide participants on event day.

Join MMLT for a community BioBlitz at Aird Creek MapleCross Nature Reserve! Participants will explore the 1 km trail while documenting local flora and fauna using iNaturalist. Open to all ages and experience levels, this flexible citizen science event is a chance to learn about local species, contribute valuable observations, and connect with fellow nature enthusiasts, researchers from Carleton University, and experts from local field naturalists’ clubs. Participants are welcome to stay for as much or as little of the event as they wish.

Please note:

  • Parking is available on site; carpooling is always encouraged.
  • Participants are encouraged to bring a charged device with iNaturalist pre-downloaded. Photos can also be uploaded to iNaturalist after the event using a camera or mobile device.
  • Don’t forget insect repellent, bug netting, sunscreen, a hat, sturdy walking shoes, water, and snacks. Long pants with socks tucked in are recommended.
  • Please leave pets at home – the wildlife will thank you!

This event is free, but registration in advance is encouraged so that we may get a better sense of numbers. Please visit mmlt.ca/events.
