Festival of the Wild Child

Bring the kids and join the Mississippi Madawaska Land Trust at High Lonesome Nature Reserve for a day of outdoor exploration, discovery, and fun.

Our theme this year is “One Small Step” – because in nature, as in life, every journey begins with one small step, from acorn to oak, tadpole to frog, caterpillar to butterfly.

Explore the trails, meet local naturalists, discover wildlife, create nature-inspired crafts, and make memories together outdoors.

Activities include:

  • Pond Life
  • Magical Fairies
  • Pollinator Path
  • Who Pooped?
  • Map it Out!
  • Nature’s Sanctuary
  • Leaf & Bark Rubbing
  • Research Tent
  • Nature Journaling
  • Indigenous Connections to Nature

Festival admission is FREE for children or youth under 16, and just $10 for adults. We encourage pre-registration to help us plan but if you prefer, you’re also welcome to sign up on-site on the day of the event. Learn more and pre-register at mmlt.ca/events.

Know a family that would love this? Please share this event and help us inspire the next generation of nature lovers!

Our thanks to The Municipality of Mississippi Mills for once again supporting the Festival of the Wild Child.
