Janice Guillemot will show the movie “The Awakening of Elizabeth Shaw” and tell the story of Elizabeth Shaw of Huntley Township. In 1898 Elizabeth went to the village of Port Simpson, B.C. and worked as a Matron in the Boys’ Home run by the Methodist Church. She was extremely upset about what she saw there, wrote to her superiors about the abuse, but nothing was done about it.
