This week Councillor Gower invites residents to the community’s annual Pride Week Flag Raising ceremony on August 23rd. He shares information on the upcoming OC Transpo fall schedule changes. Huntmar Drive just south of Palladium Drive will see some lane closures for the City’s culvert renewal work. Pond maintenance will be taking place at the Granite Ridge Stormwater Management Facility on Iber Road. Pride Week Flag Raising on Sunday, August 23
I hope you can join us at Village Square Park this Sunday, August 23 for our annual Pride Week Flag Raising ceremony. It’s a chance to celebrate the 2SLGBTQIA+ community in Stittsville as part of Capital Pride. Our guest speaker is DJ Powrhaus (aka Pat Nikolovski), a local business owner and educator. OC Transpo Fall service changes
The next major OC Transpo seasonal schedule changes begin on Sunday, August 30, just ahead of back-to-school and the end of summer holidays. Service changes include higher frequency for LRT Line 1 on weekdays, new express routes between Terry Fox / Eagleson and Tunney’s Pasture, revised schedules on many routes, and over 150 new zero-emission buses in the fleet to improve reliability. There’s also ongoing monitoring of all routes to adjust service where it’s needed.
If you’re a Stittsville commuter who uses the Terry Fox or Eagleson Park & Rides, check out the new 500-series express routes. They’ll be traveling directly between Tunney’s and Kanata, stopping only at Moodie and skipping other stations along the way. I’ve been advocating for these routes along with my west end council colleagues.

Huntmar Drive lane closures for culvert renewal (August 17-21)
This week the City of Ottawa is replacing a culvert on Huntmar Drive just south of Palladium Drive. Expect lane closures and some delays between Palladium and Maple Grove, and consider using an alternate route like Silver Seven or Terry Fox. More info…
Upcoming Granite Ridge stormwater pond maintenance
Maintenance work at the Granite Ridge Stormwater Management Facility (164 Iber Road) is expected to begin this month. It includes removal of accumulated sediment from the pond, regrading of the downstream drainage ditch, full dewatering of the stormwater pond for the duration of the project, and temporary closure of the pathway connection between Cinnabar Way and Iber Road.
