As Councillor Gower’s term as city councillor ends on November 14th, he is still working for the residents of Stittsville and shares this week’s notes. He shares the activities for the transition of the new Councillor-elect Chelsea Walton and the regulations that must be followed. He also shares how Stittsville residents can stay in touch when he departs City Hall. The David Hartin home located at 10 Cedarow Court is being recommended by the city to receive a Heritage Designation under Part IV of the Ontario Heritage Act. The Councillor shares the outcome of the Amberway Park survey. There is a number of ‘Odds and Ends’ information that he shares, along with the construction for the Sweetnam Drive traffic calming project. November is ‘Fall Prevention Month’ and the Councillor shares links to helpful information to prevent falls. As is usual, should you require assistance, contact Councillor Gower’s office at the contact information provided below.

Transition time for City Council
My term as your city councillor ends on November 14, and councillor-elect Chelsea Walton will take over the role on November 15. We’re working together over the next few weeks to ensure a smooth transition and a strong start.
Part of that transition includes closing down my ward office after eight years. There are a few things residents should know:
- During this transition period, we may not be able to respond to all requests. For most city issues, you can contact 311 by phone or submit a service request online at ottawa.ca/311. This is the fastest way to get a response and action on your issue. The call centre is staffed 24/7 to report a pothole, broken streetlight, missed garbage pick-up, vandalism, animal control, or any other city concern.
- Due to privacy restrictions, we cannot pass along personal information (name, phone number, email, etc.) to the new councillor. We’ve been contacting residents with open case files to confirm their Service Request number (SR#) and provide them with a staff contact at the city for updates.

About our email newsletter
We now have over 11,600 subscribers! We’ll publish two more regular editions of the Wednesday newsletter on November 4 and 11, along with my weekly Saturday videos on November 7 and 14.
Unfortunately, privacy restrictions mean that I cannot pass along our email newsletter subscriber list to the new councillor. I’m hoping that we can share a link soon so that residents can sign up for councillor-elect Walton’s new email newsletter. Stay tuned!

Hartin House on Cedarow Court up for heritage designation
The City of Ottawa’s Heritage Planning staff are recommending that 10 Cedarow Court in Stittsville be designated under Part IV of the Ontario Heritage Act. Known as the David Hartin House, the building dates back to 1876 and is one of only a few remaining stone buildings from that era that still stand in the community today. It’s now home to Jask Salon and Day Spa. Read more…

Amberway Park survey: What we heard
The results are in! Our survey on the future of Amberway Park is now closed, after 28 days of accepting feedback. We received 67 responses, nearly all from the surrounding streets of Savage Drive, Denham Way, Greer Street, and Victor Street. Thanks to everyone who reflected on what they wanted to see in a renewed park and took the time to let us know their thoughts. The responses we received revealed a clear consensus to keep Amberway Park much the same as it is now, with only small improvements. Read more…

We all have a role to play in preventing falls and keeping ourselves and loved ones safe. Falls can affect people of all ages – from young children to older adults – but the good news is that many falls can be prevented. With a bit of awareness and a few simple precautions, we can all take steps toward a safer, healthier community. For more information on preventing falls, please visit these links for older adults and children.
