IMPORTANT CHANGES:
The meeting of the Stittsville Goulbourn Horticultural Society on Tuesday, April 19th will take place on Zoom, instead of in person. The Zoom portal will open at 7:00 pm with the meeting starting at 7:30pm.
Our guest speaker this month, Master Gardener Dale Odorizzi, will give her presentation “Invasive Plants—The Beautiful Thugs.” Native species are being overrun by exotic plants, resulting in reduced native plant populations and a decline of native insects, songbirds and even mammals. In this presentation, Dale will discuss the invasive plants that are causing problems in our Eastern Ontario area and what we can do to help control the spread.
Dale Odorizzi is a Master Gardener with Lanark County Master Gardeners. She has been gardening all of her adult life and has had both a small city garden and a large country garden. She now maintains a communal condominium garden and also gardens on her own balcony. Her gardens have all been designed to attract birds, butterflies, bees, turtles, frogs and even toads.
Society members will be emailed the Zoom meeting invite. If you are not a member and would like to attend free as a one-time guest, or if you would like to become a member, please send an email to sghorticultural@gmail.com with your request. Annual membership is $15 per person or $25 per family.
Please join us for what is sure to be an inspiring evening.
