Art and creativity give us a special way to show a vision of peace. A poster does not need words to cross a border. Colors, shapes, and symbols can speak directly to the heart. When young people pick up a brush or a pencil to draw peace, they are building a bridge over walls of misunderstanding. Peace posters created by youth show us a world where hands are joined and where differences are celebrated – harmony in humanity.
Lions International hold an annual Peace Poster Contest that provides children from across the globe the opportunity to express their vision of peace through art. The Stittsville District Lions Club invites youth from our community to share their creativity in expressing what peace means to them through art.
This year’s theme is ‘Harmony in Humanity’ and the contest is open for children aged 11 to 13. Winning posters advance through the local club, then district, and onto the international levels of judging, with the opportunity to be recognized globally.
Requirements for entry to the contest are:

- the poster size must be no smaller than 13″ x 20″ and no larger than 20″ x 24″

- do not glue, staple, or otherwise attach anything to the poster
- lettering or numbering of any type is not permitted
- artwork must be created on flexible material to allow it to be rolled for shipping
