In 1960, the eight Benny brothers, all being poultry farmers, diversified their operations and entered the restaurant business after their youngest brother, Gilles, developed a roasting oven as well as a unique, three-hour slow-roasting technique that always yields chicken cooked to perfection.
“Benny&Co. restaurants are ideally suited to the lives of young families. We offer a modern fast-casual dining concept, developed to satisfy today’s customers, who are focused on eating well. Customers will enjoy a soup and salad bar, a selection of beer and wine, a children’s menu and play area, a takeout counter as well as drive-through service. Our slogan says it all: Tasty. Delightful.” concluded Yves Benny, VP, Public Relations, at Benny&Co.
On Wednesday, January 23rd, the Benny brothers brought their exclusive three-hour, slow-roasting technique to their new Stittsville restaurant – the first in Ontario. The expansion of Benny&Co. in Ontario and Quebec will be managed by second and third generation Bennys. The company plans to have more than 60 Benny&Co. restaurants in Quebec and Ontario by 2020, the same year that Benny&Co. will celebrate its 60th anniversary.
“Restaurateurs play an important role supporting the growth of our city’s strong and vibrant economy. I’m thrilled that Benny&Co has chosen to expand its successful restaurant chain in Ottawa. I look forward to its investments and contributions to Ottawa’s thriving restaurant scene,” said Mayor Watson.
The restaurant comes into Ontario with an investment of nearly $5 million and will create some 90 new jobs. Benny&Co. is located on Hazeldean Road in the Shops of Fairwinds Plaza.
Officiating at the ribbon cutting ceremony are l-r: Simon Franche, Regional Operations Manager of Benny&Co.; Vincent Benny, Vice-President of Purchasing; Yves Benny, Vice-President of Public Relations and Market Development of Benny&Co.; Jim Watson, Mayor of the City of Ottawa; Jean Benny, President and CEO of Benny&Co.; Glen Gower, Stittsville Ward Councillor; Allan Hubley, Kanata-South Ward Councillor.
