Another weekend full of activities for everyone. From federal politics to fund raising for the Bahamas, beer and food pairings, artwork to view and purchase, a Halloween Open House, some fun runs celebrating a new brewery in town, Councillor drop-in, getting free stuff and cheering for ball hockey, Stittsville will be a busy place this weekend. Take the time to see it all and do enjoy the splendid colours of autumn.

The Stittsville Village Association is hosting an All-Candidates Meeting for Carleton Riding. The meeting is taking place at the Stittsville United Church (Main Street and Fernbank Road) starting at 7:00 pm. Doors open at 6:30 pm. Hear from the candidates, learn about the issues that affect you and join in on the Q&A session. Everyone is welcome.
Chef Michael Blackie and NeXT Restaurant is hosting a fundraising dinner for the people of the Bahamas who lost everything in Hurricane Dorian. The dinner is from 6:00 – 10:00 pm. You can make your reservation at nextfood.ca. Not only will the food be amazing, but NeXT is donating 100% of the funds raised directly to the Green Turtle Cay Hurrican Dorian Relief Fund. All of their costs have been sponsored including the entire team at NeXT who are volunteering their time and efforts!
Starting at 7:00 pm you can pair four different beers to four different foods. All happening on Iber Road at Euro Bites and Covered Bridge Brewing.

Start your day off right by dropping in to the Councillor’s Chat. Councillor Gower will be in his office at the CardelRec Complex-Goulbourn (1500 Shea Road) starting at 10:30 a.m. He will be pleased to meet you, hear your questions and make your thoughts known on Stittsville happenings.
While you are at the Rec Complex, take in the art by local artists and members of the Ottawa West Arts Association as they exhibit their ‘CHANGE’ works. Do fill out a People’s Choice Ballot for your favourite artwork before you leave.
On both Saturday and Sunday from 10:00 am – 4:00 pm, a two-day art sale is taking place in a rather unique location. Painter Trudy Daley and photographer Sylvie Sabourin show their respective works in Trudy’s pristine gallery like garage at 10 Brightside Avenue, Stittsville. Come and check it out and treat yourself and others to the gift of art. Greeting cards and photography books also available.
Zida Academy (on Henry Goulbourn Way) is having a Halloween Play Day/Open House with Monkey Rock Music playing live. It is all FREE This will be a special Halloween event including fun activities at Zida’s amazing new facility, with its massive yard, outdoor trampolines, pumpkin picking and more. If you’ve never seen Monkey Rock Music on stage before, get ready for a real rock experience, perfect for kids ages 1-6 years, and their parents. Every song will have you singing along, doing actions, even up on stage playing instruments. Halloween activities start at 10:00 am; music starts at 11:00 am. Register here for your tickets.

BREW REVOLUTION is brewing up something new in Stittsville! RUN-TO-BEER | OTTAWA is celebrating the addition of a new brewery to Ottawa, Brew Revolution, and we want you to join us! There will be 10, 5 and 3 km runs and walkers are welcome to join in. The event is family friendly – you do not need to drink beer to participate!! Lots of non-alcoholic options will be available. There is a $5.00 registration fee – to register go to https://www.yogaontap.ca/events-1/run-to-brew-revolution. At 10:45 am sign-in opens (arrive 15 minutes prior to your run departure); 11:00 am the 10 km run departs from the brewery; at 11:30 am the 3 and 5 km runs depart. Post Run – enjoy a pint and socialize with your runner friends. A bag drop will be available. Brew Revolution looks forward to seeing you out at the brewery this October!
Stittsville Market at the Barn is happening from 10:00 am – 2:00 pm. There are some new vendors coming out this week — Purely Natural – homemade bath and beauty products, as well as Mel_Lo Designs – handmade gem stone jewelry. Joining these new vendors will be Taste Blooms – baked goods; Munster Farm – grass-fed beef; Kristys Naturals – preserves; Joys of Amaranth; San Jose Mexican foods/ taqueria; B’s Honey – honey and eco-friendly beeswax food wraps; Holmespun Ice Cream; Four B Farms – pastured chicken; Capener Creations – dried soup mixes; and, Charlotte’s Bath Bombs.
For a $5.00 entrance fee, you can participate in the Great Stittsville Swap. At this event you will be able to pick up all sorts of amazing FREE stuff. Want to get free arts & craft supplies, baking supplies, decorations, garden supplies, and costumes? How about free home decor, books, movies, pop culture items, and help save the environment at the same time? The entry fee is only available at the door, cash only, to cover operational costs. Doors open at 10:00 am and the swap runs until 4:00 pm at the Deschenes Poitras Dental Red Barn located at 6255 Hazeldean Road. Bring your shopping bags and fill them up!!
The old Stittsville flea market site on Hazeldean Road will sure be seeing some excitement because the 3rd Annual Stittsville 3 on 3 Ball Hockey Tournament is happening from 2:00 – 6:00 pm. The teams are boys, girls and co-ed and will be made up of Atom, Peewee and Bantam level players – basically kids born between 2005 – 2010. This year, proceeds support the Minor Atom, Minor Peewee and Minor Bantam Stittsville RAMS teams! There will be prizes and winning teams get their team’s name engraved on the trophy displayed at the Johnny Leroux Arena! Jo-Jo’s Pizza are providing free pizza to the teams and will be on-site for parents, friends and fans to purchase. Come out and cheer on our local youngsters at what will be a fast-moving event!!
And, of course, you can always get spooked at Stittsville’s Haunted Heritage Tour. The tours run at 7:00 pm and 9:30 pm every THURSDAY, FRIDAY and SATURDAY until early November.
