Fall 2026 tree planting update
Forestry Services’ fall caliper tree planting program is underway and will run until mid-November, weather permitting. In Stittsville, this includes 160 new trees to be planted in parks, at City facilities, and along streets through Forestry Services’ lifecycle tree planting programs as well as some projects for the Schoolyard Tree Planting Grant Program.
Park locations include Bradley-Craig Park, Mark Yakabuski Park, William Bradley Park, Rouncey Park, Pioneer Plains Park, and the Poole Creek Pathway near Beverly Street.
Where a tree planting is scheduled on City property adjacent to a residence, individual notifications will be provided to the resident in advance of planting. More info..
As part of the Ottawa 200 celebrations, the City will plant one commemorative tree in each ward this fall through the Tree Dedication Program. Each tree will include a special plaque recognizing the anniversary, which will be installed at a later date. In Stittsville, a Freeman maple will be planted in Coyote Run Park.

October is Children’s Vision Health Month
Regular comprehensive eye examinations can help identify vision problems early, including problems that may not have obvious signs. Vision problems can affect learning, social development, self-esteem and hand-eye coordination. If you have children aged 19 years and younger, a valid OHIP card will cover the cost of a full examination with an optometrist. Learn more at Ottawapublichealth.ca/visual health for children.
