The next meeting of the Stittsville Goulbourn Horticultural Society is on Tuesday, September 20th and will take place on Zoom at 7:30 pm.
This month’s speaker is Master Gardener Julianne Labreche who will be presenting her talk, “A Garden for the Birds.”
Wild birds are currently facing a multitude of threats across North America, leaving many bird species in decline. Master Gardener Julianne Labreche will review the most common threats and provide gardeners with some practical, positive ways to encourage birds to visit our gardens and make our gardens more bird friendly year round.
Julianne Labreche loves to garden “on the wild side” with a focus on native plants, pollinators and birds. She has been a master gardener for over a decade. She is also certified as a master naturalist and as a pollinator steward. Julianne’s garden is certified with the Canadian Wildlife Federation and with Monarch Watch. She is a recipient of two Ontario Service Medals for her volunteer work as a gardener. Her nature and garden articles have been published regularly in Lee Valley Tools. Currently, Julianne is on the board of the Ottawa Horticultural Society.
Society members will be emailed the Zoom meeting invite. If you are not a member and would like to attend free as a one-time guest, or if you would like to become a member, please send an email to sghorticultural@gmail.com. The annual membership is $15 per person or $25 per family.
