Find your golden ticket during Library Month

October is Library Month and the Ottawa Public Library (OPL) wants everyone in Ottawa to know that its amazing Golden Tickets are back again this year.

Because the tickets were a hit for the library last year, it was decided to bring this successful campaign back. The Golden Tickets will be hidden not only in any of the 33 branches and bookmobiles, but across the city as well. Next time you visit our local branch, the Stittsville Library, be on the lookout! Should you discover a Golden Ticket, redeem it at any OPL branch and you will receive a practical limited-edition, locally handmade fanny pack made by EcoEquitable.

“This is a fun way to showcase OPL’s astounding collections and services”, said Ottawa Library Chair Tim Tierney. “The Golden Tickets encourage customers and non-customers alike to visit the Library, discover something new, and maybe get a Library card if they don’t already have one!”

OPL Chief Executive Officer, Danielle McDonald, added that “the Library Month Golden Ticket campaign is also a way to show appreciation to customers who use the Library regularly”. “So many of our customers are passionate about reading, learning and connecting to new people and ideas,” she said, “and OPL is here to build community and help people succeed.”

Those who want to find a Golden Ticket should follow OPL on TwitterInstagram and Facebook for clues and more or visit the Stittsville Branch during Library Month! Post your photos on your social media pages when you have discovered a ticket or with your fanny pack using the hashtag #OPLGoldenTicket. Share your library discovery and spread the word about how valuable public libraries are to you and our world.

Did you know that at the Stittsville Library Branch you can borrow for free with your library card — Express eBooks; you can stream classic movies or learn a new language online; you can read full-text daily newspapers and borrow the latest video games. Visit the Used Books corner and pick-up some good reads for those cool autumn evenings. The Used Book corner in Stittsville is operated by a team of dedicated volunteers to raise funds that in turn support your local branch. Stittsville has it all and everything in between.

The Golden Ticket campaign is made possible by the generosity of the Friends of the Ottawa Public Library Association (FOPLA).
