Ottawa Fire Services received notification from a homeowner that there was fire and smoke visible in an attached garage to a semi detached two-storey home at 234 McElroy Drive in Glen Cairn on February 14 at 16:33 hours.
Fire fighters confirmed a working fire upon arrival and that the residents had safely evacuated. The garage had tires and other stored items inside but no vehicle.
The home will not be habitable due to smoke damage. The attached unit will likely be unaffected.
Fire fighters continue suppression operations. There are no reports of civilian or fire fighter injuries. Victim Services are responding to assist the residents and Ottawa Police Services, Ottawa Paramedic Service, Enbridge Gas and Ottawa Hydro are assisting at scene.
An Ottawa Fire Services Investigator is responding. Damage estimates and cause are not yet available.
