Look at these smiling faces! Sixteen boys are heading to Europe next year to play hockey. A 10-day program for the boys is being assembled with the assistance of Legacy Global Sport Tours. This Canadian team will visit, train and compete against other international hockey teams in Germany, Austria, and the Czech Republic.
“This will be an international hockey experience the boys and their parents will never forget,” says head coach Rob Stone.
Each team member was invited from the house league program at the Peewee level of the Stittsville Minor Hockey Association. They were identified as a group of boys who shared similar values, attitudes, eagerness to develop as athletes and for their love of hockey.
Though it is a year away, raising funds has begun with a raffle. Selling tickets kicked off this weekend at Sobeys and Brown’s Independent. Thanks to the generosity of local businesses and individuals, prizes valued at over $1,300 were donated. These include two golf packages for four, an iPad, a Karlsson Jersey and two $100 gift certificates.
As a means to share their good fortune, the boys have decided to share in their fundraising efforts by giving 25% of all funds raised to Tysen’s Mission to a Million in support of Make a Wish of Eastern Ontario.
Thanks Stittsville for a great start so far we have raised almost $3,000 at our first raffle. Tickets are still available for another two weeks. Please contact Rob Stone at email@example.com to order yours.
As the year progresses, the team with have other fundraising campaigns and seek corporate sponsorship to make this trip a reality. For more information, please contact Rob Stone at firstname.lastname@example.org
