A GoFundMe launched to help a family who lost their Stittsville home to a fire Tuesday morning has raised more than $1,100 in just a day.

Ottawa Fire was called to 755 Rosehill Ave. at 2:16 a.m., arriving to heavy flames at the residence.

Two adults and an infant, who neighbour Melanie Reid said on Facebook is nine months old, escaped safely. The Canadian Red Cross is providing assistance to the victims.

The online fundraiser, with a stated purpose of “help(ing) alleviate some of the day-to-day costs that (they) will incur while getting back on their feet”, has a goal of $5,000 and by Tuesday night had started picking up a brisk pace of donations.

The fire left minor damage to a house next door but Ottawa Fire said the occupants there will not be displaced.

A fire investigator is determining the cause.
