The Goulbourn Jubilee Singers invite you to concert performances by the Goulbourn Jubilee Singers, GJS Teens and the Junior Jubilee Singers. Based primarily in the Stittsville, Kanata, Richmond and Carp communities, the GJS has been making music for over 40 years.
This spring’s uplifting concert features international “Songs for a Better World”, under the musical direction of Linda Crawford. This eclectic choral concert includes beautiful songs from around the world, with lyrics that include English, French, Spanish, Portuguese, Estonian, Arabic, Hebrew and Latin!
Our special guests are the Autorickshaw Band www.autorickshaw.ca, winners of the 2018 Canadian Folk Music award for World Music Group of the Year, and nominees for the 2018 JUNO award for World Music Album of the Year. The ensemble features vocalist Suba Sankaran, bass guitarist and beatboxer Dylan Bell, and tabla artist Ed Hanley. Autorickshaw’s music lies on the cultural cutting edge, as their contemporary Canadian folk blends with the classical and popular music of India. Formed in 2003, Autorickshaw have toured extensively across Canada, including appearances at Montreal, Vancouver, Guelph, Calgary and Toronto Jazz festivals, Vancouver and Winnipeg Folk festivals, Glenn Gould Studio, Stratford Festival and the Sound Symposium in Newfoundland, to name a few. “The ensemble consists of Canada’s most exciting and musically interesting musicians…and when their forces are combined, the results are utterly unique and musically pioneering”. – Daniel Ariaratnam, The Record.
The concert takes place at Trinity Presbyterian Church, 1817 Richardson Side Road, Carp (Ottawa) on Saturday 11th May at 7.00 pm, and again on Sunday 12th May at 2.00 pm.
