The Kanata Theatre production of Home, I’m Darling sends the audience back to the 1950’s (think I Love Lucy). With fun scene changes, it’s a clever social comedy that tackles a lot of cultural issues and British playwright, Laura Wade, has captured it all with her witty lines and social analysis.

Imagine high-achieving professional, Judy Martin, whose dismissal from her busy-busy job in finance allows her to turn her taste for retro style into her way of life. She is fed up with ‘same-old same-old’ and opts to a time when life was much simpler which promises the comfort she so desires. Played with mounting uncertainty by Katie Torresan, Judy trades people management for domestic management as a stay-at-home wife. She feels complete with her 50’s clothing style, appliances and décor. She is gloriously kept busy as a homebody and fawning over her husband, Johnny, as he ventures out each day as a real estate agent. What could be better? What could possibly go wrong?

The incredible cast for Home, I’m Darling are played as follows:
- Alex – Olivia Hegger
- Fran – Naomi James
- Johnny – Phillip Merriman
- Judy – Katie Torresan
- Marcus – Paxton Rodriguez
- Sylvia – Tara Marcoux-Tynski
The future Judy is seeking in life with all of its mixed emotions, has unlikely been found in the past. You’ll have to attend this Kanata Theatre production to find out why.
To rave reviews in 2018 when first introduced to the stage, Home, I’m Darling starring Katherine Parkinson, went on to win an Olivier Award for Best Comedy.

Being brought up in the 50s, triggered many memories. Loved the
setting, with screens, old furniture, fridge, stove, pots and pans. I still have some of them…
With appreciation to ALL.
