LEGION: Valentine’s Cabaret and more upcoming events

UPCOMING EVENTS
On Friday, January 29th  Guy will be serving his French Onion Soup.  It will be served from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. for only $5.00.
On February 3rd the next bus trip to the Slots at the Rideau Carleton Raceway organized by the 55 Plus Club of the Legion. The bus will leave the Johnny Leroux Stittsville Community Arena at 11:30 a.m.  To reserve a seat or for more information call Marion Gullock at 613-836-5254.

The next monthly family breakfast will be held on Sunday, February 7th from 9 a.m to 12 noon. The cost is $6.00 per person. everyone in the community is ‘WELCOME’.
On February 13 starting at 6 p.m. A Valentine’s Day Cabaret with the Goulbourn Male Chorus Major Fund Raiser at the Stittsville Legion Hall, Main Street Stittsville. Tickets are $25.00 each and will include a 3 course meal, silent auction and music by “Four Way Split” Bring your special person to this wonderful evening.
DARTS: Mixed Trips Tournament will be held on Saturday, February 27th with 3 players per team. The cost will be $30.00 per team and you must pre register for this event being held at the Stittsville Legion. For more information contact Bill Vail at or Tracey Boss at .

WEEKLY EVENTS
“OPEN MIC and SING-A-LONG” with Bill Martin starts at 8 p.m. in the downstairs lounge every Friday. Come and join in the Country and Rock music, fun and comradeship. Open to everyone.
Euchre hosted by the Legion’s  55 Plus Club is played every Tuesday  at 1 p.m at the Legion Hall.
EUCHRE: Garnet Vaughn had the Men’s High Score with Doug McCrady placing second. Lynda Viau had the Ladies High Score with Audrey Winston placing second. Don McLure had the Most Lone Hands with Winnie Burchell having the Hidden Score. Sharon Legault had the Low Score.
Knitting and Crocheting Club starting at 6:30 p.m. every Monday except for holidays. Lessons are available “FREE” learn how to crochet and/or knit and read patterns. We still continue to support the hospitals by making baby bonnets and pic line covers. If you need more information contact

INFORMATION: Any veteran or spouse who would like to speak to the Provincial Service Officer should sign the form at the Legion or phone the Branch Service Officer (Ron Currie) at before February 3rd.  The Provincial Service Officer will be making a visit to the Branch during the week of February 13th. All those who sign up will be notified of the exact date and time by February 8th.

BOOK CLUB:  The next meeting of the Book Club has been changed to Monday February 1st at 7:00 p.m.  Book of the Month is “Alias Grace” by Margaret Atwood. This club is open to everyone who loves to read.
Bursary Forms are now available at the Stittsville Legion.
Membership’s are due by January 31st for members to stay in good standing.

It is with a heavy heart we mourn the passing of Lou Rockburn, on January 12th. Lou was a long time member of the Stittsville Legion. Our condolences go to Tina and the entire family.  “Lest We Forget”
