Library summer reading club crafts a virtual Summerland

As summer approaches, all eyes turn to the Library for their Summer Reading Club. The Ottawa Public Library (OPL) has announced its engaging online summer program for children aged 2 to 12. The program starts on June 22 and continues through to August 21, 2020. This new virtual program called Summerland, is designed to support continuity in children’s literacy and keep children entertained and upbeat all summer long.

Children from across Ottawa are invited to visit Summerland, where they can enjoy a daily mix of fun and learning activities such as storytimes, arts and crafts, dance, technology, science, music, drama, special guests and more.

To celebrate the beginning of Summer Reading Club, join OPL for a colourful and action packed virtual magic show with Luc Leduc – The Duke of Magic on Friday, June 26, 2020 at 1:30 pm.

Like every summer, amazing local artists and presenters will be participating and hosting virtual workshops. It’s an incredible opportunity for children to have a little chat with their favorite writers, artists, musicians and other special guests! Here are just a few names from this year’s lineup:

  • Little Ray’s Reptiles
  • Luv 2 Groove
