Light up Stittsville in blue for Diabetes month

(To honour Diabetes Month a tree lighting in blue took place at Village Square Park with Don Zogalo, President of the Stittsville District Lions Club; Marilyn Southall, Chair of the Lions Diabetes Committee; Goldie Ghamari, MPP Carleton; and Councillor Glen Gower in attendance.)

Every year across Canada the month of November is dedicated to those who live with Diabetes. Blue lights now shine on a specially selected tree in the Village Square Park to bring awareness to those living with the disease thanks to the Stittsville District Lions Club.

One of the Lions Club’s many missions is Diabetes with Stittsville Lion Marilyn Southall as the local Chair for this especially important cause touching so many in our community. Marilyn is a strong supporter of the disease and would “love to see Stittsville lit up in blue”.

They were joined by other Lions members and community residents.

The Diabetes Canada mission is to lead the fight against diabetes by helping people with diabetes live healthy lives while working to find a cure. You can help by not only donating to Diabetes Canada or showing your support by lighting up a tree on your property in blue.
