Hockey coaches and hockey experts agree “this type of season is truly special”. These boys have accomplished something so rare and remarkable that they may never do it again as athletes.
They remained undefeated in league play this season and last week won the playoffs, also undefeated. They play their season in the Ontario East Minor Hockey League AA division, the highest for their age group in Eastern Ontario.
This team is comprised of 17 boys who were born in 2004 whose territory includes seven small towns in Eastern Ontario. Stittsville is one of the towns that falls into the Silver Seven catchment. Two boys from Stittsville were chosen to play on this team back in the fall: Cole Bowditch and Ryan Ladouceur.
Although the team is technically only a AA team they compete in tournaments at the AAA level and at one point this season were ranked 5th in the province in the AAA division. This is another huge accomplishment for this talented group of boys as the AAA teams in Ontario draw from large metropolitan populations.
