At a public meeting last Thursday, officials from Hydro Ottawa provided an overview of new infrastructure designed to improve reliability in Stittsville.

The main project for this year is along Abbott Street, where crews will add a new line from Stittsville Main Street to Granite Ridge Drive.  Most of the line will be on overhead poles except for an underground section adjacent to Village Square Park.

Hydro Ottawa says the new line will provide more reliability and efficiency, minimize the risk of outages, add redundancy and allow for future growth.

Here’s an overview document and slide deck shared by Hydro Ottawa at the meeting.

UPDATE: Hydro Ottawa has since clarified that future work along Granite Ridge, Sweetnam and Springbrook:

The work on Granite Ridge will include:

  • rehabilitation/rebuild of existing underground infrastructure
  • work will take place from Abbott Street to just north of Cinnabar Way
  • West sidewalk will be removed and replaced

The work on Sweetnam will include:

  • upgrade/rebuild of existing overhead lines
  • construction near completion (Hazeldean to north of Harry Douglas Drive)

On Springbrook, the work includes:

  • rehabilitation/rebuild of existing underground infrastructure
  • work will take place from Hazeldean to Old Orchard Cres
  • removal and replacement of asphalt sidewalk on east side of the road
