One person injured in BBQ fire on Talltree Crescent

(Part of Abbott Street between Granite Ridge and Iber was closed earlier this evening, as emergency vehicles responded to a fire on Talltree Crescent. A press release from Ottawa Fire Services is included below. Based on the number of fire trucks on scene, it’s likely that the fire spread beyond the barbecue.)

UPDATE, 10:51pm via Ottawa Paramedic Service: Paramedics responded to a working fire that occurred at 105 Talltree Cres. The Ottawa Paramedic Service Communications Centre received the call at 7:52 PM on June 11, 2017.

On arrival Paramedics found one ambulatory 32 year old male patient with burns to his arms and face. Paramedics treated the patient’s burns with irrigation, bandaging and pain relief medications. The patient was transported to hospital on a high priority and was stable on arrival at the hospital. The burns occurred as a result of a gas barbeque.

Fire fighters received multiple calls reporting that a BBQ had caught on fire on the deck area of a home at 105 Talltree Crescent.

The time of the initial call was 19:41. On route, black smoke could be seen by responding crews and a working fire was assigned prior to arrival. 

An aggressive offensive attack was initiated and crews have brought the fire under control at this time. Minor injuries to one occupant have been reported and the civilian is being treated on scene. No dollar loss is available at the time of this release.
