The Ottawa Catholic School Board (OCSB) Trustees held a special board meeting on March 29, 2022 to name the new Trustee for Zone 1, West Carleton-March/Stittsville-Kanata West/Rideau-Goulbourn/Osgoode. Mardi de Kemp will replace the late Trustee John Curry who passed away in February, 2022.

From eight qualified candidates who put forth their names to represent Zone 1 from March 29-November 14, 2022, the remainder of the term, Mardi de Kemp was appointed to the position.

A long-time member of St Patrick Parish in Fallowfield, de Kemp has had a 30-year affiliation with the OCSB. She has been involved in school councils, a parent volunteer for which she was recognized in 2000, a representative on the Special Education Advisory Committee, and a former OCSB Manager of Communications.

de Kemp told the board trustees upon appointment, “I’m honoured to have been selected as the Trustee for Zone 1. John Curry was a great man and a wonderful advocate for Catholic education. I’ll work hard to continue John’s legacy as a champion for all students, Catholic education, and the students and parents in Zone 1. I thank the trustees for their confidence in me, and I look forward to joining the Board.”
