Grand Marshall Barry Gray, Senior Citizen of the Year, led the Parade of Lights as it made its way down Stittsville Main Street to Village Square Park. Hundreds of kids, young and old, braved the cold and lined both sides of the street ten deep along the parade route. The excitement was unbeatable as more than 50 brightly decorated floats, bands, animals, dance troupes and Santa – the main attraction – took over the street.
The air was filled with the aroma of hot chocolate and homemade cookies in Village Square Park when Santa made his annual visit to meet the kids. He also brought with him a little magic to the official lighting of the trees for Light up the Park to give an extra sparkle to the lights this year.
The Stittsville Village Association organized another successful evening of enjoyment, awe and laughter. The parade was gratefully carried out with the assistance of numerous volunteers, sponsors, parade participants, police, fire fighters and, of course, the residents of Stittsville.
Pictures are worth a thousand words — now some photos from Barry Gray and Stittsville Central to keep your memories alive.
Thank you to all who were part of another successful Christmas parade. Our community spirit is what makes Stittsville such a fantastic place to live!
Thanks for the great pictures! I wasn’t able to watch from the street this year and felt like I was there & could hear the music.
Thank you, the photos were super!
