UPDATE: The City of Ottawa is hosting a reception for Erica Wiebe at the Goulbourn Recreation Complex on Thursday, August 25 at 7:00pm. All residents are welcome.
Amazing turnout today at the Ottawa Airport to welcome our Olympic champion Erica Wiebe home!
Wiebe won a gold medal last week in women’s 75kg wrestling.
She was greeted not just by hometown fans, but also by Mayor Jim Watson, Stittsville councillor Shad Qadri and Kanata North councillor Marianne Wilkinson.

Mayor Jim Watson said a welcoming party would be held at the Goulbourn Recreation Complex at 7:00 p.m. Thursday. Details are scarce, but he did say an announcement would be made to honour Wiebe.
