Police make arrest in connection with attempted robbery of senior

The Ottawa Police Service Robbery Unit has laid charges in connection to an overnight robbery.

On April 13, 2016, at approximately 11:15pm, a female in her 70’s was walking to her car in a parking lot situated at the Kanata Centrum Shopping Centre. She was approached by a lone male suspect armed with a knife. The suspect made a demand for the woman’s car keys. The woman refused to comply and walked away.

The suspect then walked away but was apprehended in the area by responding patrol officers without incident. There were no injuries.

A 17 year old male, of Ottawa, is charged with the following offences:
*       Robbery
*       Possession of a weapon
*       Breach of Undertaking

The suspect will appear in Youth Court on April 14, 2016.
