Hosted in Stittsville for the past 10 years and entering its 11th year, 9RunRun has become one of the National Capital Region’s most special running events. Last year during its 10th Anniversary run, over $26,000 was raised for the Ottawa First Responders Foundation. With COVID-19 occurring worldwide in 2020, the fact is, the demands on First Responders has been even greater this year.
During this time of isolation and mental strain, it is more important than ever to connect with our community and show support for our essential First Responders. Now with the switch to a virtual format, registrants from around the country can participate in the 9runrun. A team is even registered from the Netherlands!
9RunRun organizers have partnered with Run Ottawa, the organizers of the Scotiabank Ottawa Marathon and the Tamarack Ottawa Race Weekend expanding 9RunRun into a national event. “We have been fortunate to see our event grow significantly over the past few years, and we think the 2020 virtual run will be no different,” said Brenda Tirrell, 9runrun Race Director.
9RunRun, in support of the Ottawa First Responders Foundation, encourages runners to run on their own time, between October 9 and 25 this year. But, you must register by the deadline on September 15 at 9runrun. If you plan on participating or have donated, show your commitment by using #9runrun on your social media.
Brenda Tirrell, Stittsville firefighter and the 9runrun Race Director told us, “as of right now, the 9runrun is sitting at over $12,000! For a first time virtual race, we couldn’t be more thrilled, but there is still room for more donations. Please donate and share your support with your network and on social media”.
