Registration for indoor swimming lessons opens July 12

Ottawa is getting ready to dive into Step 3 of the provincial reopening plan when they can open indoor pools and begin their Learn-to-Swim lessons. On July 9 residents can check out the revised eGuides and dates for the summer Learn-to-Swim lessons. Registration opens on Monday, July 12 at 9:00 pm. Note that fees will be adjusted when registering to reflect the delay in start dates. Classes are expected to begin the week of July 26.

The Learn-to-Swim programs for all levels and ages will be offered in English and French at select locations. It’s important to note that, in order to support physical distancing, a parent or guardian is still required to be in the water with their child for all preschool levels and Swim Kids levels one to four.

Registration is easy. Explore the updated eGuides starting Friday, July 9 and mark your calendar to register Monday, July 12 at 9pm:

  1. Go to ottawa.ca and browse the summer recreation eGuides or visit JoinOttawa (link is external) to find a course.
  2. Click the relevant barcode – it will take you to the course page, with details about the number of spaces available, fees and dates.
  3. Add the class to your cart and then proceed through the checkout. We will email you your receipt.

Stay tuned in the coming days for more information on Step 3 reopening information. City staff at the indoor pools are looking forward to when the doors are open again and they can welcome you and your family back in-person.
