Sacred Heart High School marked a proud milestone on Wednesday with a heartwarming alumni event celebrating its 25th anniversary. The event, held later in the evening after the regular school day concluded, brought together a variety of students and staff from years past to reminisce about their time attending the established Stittsville school, all while enjoying free cake, drinks and beautiful live music from a local band.

The minute we walked through the doors, the gym buzzed with nostalgic energy as old friends embraced and shared laughter together again. Teachers and staff members, both current and retired, joined the festivities and shared the joy of connecting with their former students. Soon after arriving, a live band began playing a joyous tune, which suited the atmosphere perfectly. The traditional touch of live music, combined with scenes of alumni reuniting, was heartwarming to witness and serves as a true testament to the school’s role in building friendships that last decades.

One of the highlights of the evening was viewing the old graduating class pictures dating all the way back to 2001. Leaning against a few bleachers, the framed photos drew large crowds of alumni eager to spot their younger selves and classmates. Most notably, the class sizes from each graduating year appeared to grow significantly over time. As a former student myself, it was fascinating to compare the smaller classes to my own and gain a new understanding of how much the school has evolved. The student outreach the school has been able to achieve over the years is admirable and has evidently nurtured many incredible memories and accomplishments along the way.

As the night progressed, two large 25-year anniversary cakes were cut and served to eagerly awaiting guests looking to enjoy a sweet treat among the celebrations. In addition, food trucks were kind enough to park just outside the school and serve guests a variety of delicious meals. A local and recognizable Stittsville gem, Scratch Box, offered options off their popular menu and quickly attracted customers while we were there to grab something for ourselves.

With nearly three decades of graduates now part of its extensive history, Sacred Heart Catholic High School continues to be a cornerstone of the Stittsville community. In the years to come, it’s clear that many alumni can look forward to these types of events in the future, as Sacred Heart strives to always cherish and celebrate their rich and meaningful history.

I am aware of former students not being informed of the event …. Perhaps the school should ensure that alumni list and their coordinates is kept current.
