In the car was a 71-year old woman who was trapped in the heavily damaged vehicle and had to be extricated. She suffered from chest and abdominal trauma and possibly a fractured leg. A man was also assessed and was found to have no injuries. After stabilizing the vehicles, extrication procedures took place to free the woman who was transferred by Ottawa Paramedics to hospital.
The transport trailer remained on its side in the ditch at the scene. It had knocked down an electrical pole and was leaking diesel fuel. Firefighters quickly isolated the fuel leak.
