The City of Ottawa has posted a site plan proposal for a 108-room Microtel hotel at 340 Huntmar Drive. That’s across from Tanger Outlets next to the Queensway, just south of the Arcadia subdivision.
Here’s a description from the planning documents submitted by the developer: “The proposed development involves the construction of a new 4-storey, 108 room hotel with an approximate overall gross floor area of 4,035 sq. metres, together with associated site parking, landscaping, and infrastructure. A total of 102 parking spaces are proposed, which is six spaces fewer than the quantity required within the City of Ottawa’s Zoning By-law… the structure will be loaded towards Huntmar Drive and will have two separate points of access to Country Glen Way. Parking is located towards the site’s interior… A restaurant is proposed at 346 Huntmar Drive.”
The Microtel chain is owned by hotel conglomerate Wyndham, the owner of chains like Ramada, Days Inn, and Travelodge. There’s another Microtel location east of Ottawa in Casselman.
So 108 rooms, but only 102 parking spaces, I’m by far no genius but does no one else see a problem with this
100% occupancy? Dream come true.
And there is a restaurant. And there is staff in the restaurant and the hotel. I guess they can all park at Tanger.
