Last Sunday, St. Thomas Anglican Church said many thanks, God bless and farewell to their priest Rev. Jane McCaig, who is retiring.

Over 120 church members attended the celebration service for 12 years of her ministry. The service was followed by a luncheon. During Rev. McCaig’s ministry, St. Thomas has significantly increased its outreach ministries; contributions to the Stittsville Food Bank, the starting of the Open Table community meal, participation in The Kanata/Stittsville refugee committee are local examples.

Further away, church members have participated in mission trips with Schoolbox to build schools in Nicaragua and a mission trip to Iqaluit to support the Anglican church there.

The congregation also celebrated the work of her husband, Bob, who has served faithfully as bookkeeper and facilities coordinator. We look forward to welcoming our interim priest, Canon Roger Young.

William Passmore is churchwarden at St. Thomas Anglican.
