The Ottawa Police Service Organized Fraud Unit is seeking the community’s assistance to locate Roger William DECARIE, 40 years old, from Ottawa, who has several warrants for his arrest relating to a renovation scam.
DECARIE is facing the following charges:
• 9 counts of false pretense
• 9 counts of Possession of Proceeds of Crime
It is alleged that between May 2018 and May 2019, DECARIE posted advertisements on social media offering renovation services (fence building, basement renovations, drywall services). Potential clients would contact DECARIE who in turn would attend the client’s residence, or ask for pictures and give a written quote. A 10% to 50% deposit was requested by cash or e-transfer.
DECARIE did not show up to commence the work on the scheduled date and all communications ceased.
Roger DECARIE would also present himself as “Roger Williams”.
DECARIE is a Caucasian male, 40 years-old, medium built, 5’11” (180 cm) tall, and with blue eyes (see attached picture).
