November is Diabetes Awareness Month. An awareness not overlooked by the Stittsville Lions Club. The Club has supported diabetes research with their annual fundraiser heading into the Christmas season – Case for a Cure – with all proceeds going to Diabetes Canada. There are 11 million Canadians who are living with Diabetes and and Pre-Diabetes – 422 million worldwide – the disease continues to be a growing epidemic.
The Stittsville Lions work tirelessly to raise funds and bring awareness to Diabetes. They annually contribute to Diabetes Canada to enable further research on Diabetes and to support the many activities for youth and adults living with the disease. This year is especially important for the Lions to recognize – the 100th anniversary of the discovery of Insulin by Banting and Best.
In October, the Lions are getting a head start on their fundraising for Diabetes with a bottle drop to take place on October 16 from 9:00am – 1:00pm. They are asking residents to drop off your empty cans, plastics, beer, liquor and wine bottles to support the fundraising effort.
On November 20th, another bottle drop will be held from 9:00am – 1:00pm in support of Diabetes.
Make a difference in someone’s life by supporting the Stittsville Lions and their fundraising effort for Diabetes.
Both bottle drives will take place at the Lions Hall on Stittsville Main Street. If you would like to know more, call 613-836-4964 or send an email to info@stittsvillelions.com.
