Stittsville Village Association – Call for volunteers for the 2026 Parade of Lights

Stittsville Parade of Lights a magical event! Organized annually by the Stittsville Village Association (SVA), it is because of the enthusiastic volunteers who energize this December tradition. As a volunteer, you’ll play a crucial role in ensuring the parade runs smoothly and safely. Whether you’re a seasoned volunteer or helping for the first time, your contribution will be extremely appreciated. Don’t miss this opportunity to be part of something special that spreads seasonal merriment throughout Stittsville.

The SVA still requires 140 volunteers for the Parade of Lights, in particular adult volunteers (18+) to assist with the barricades located at busy intersections and driveways. Under the new safety city by-laws, and to help supervise at major intersections and driveways, major barricades must have volunteers at least 18 years of age+ or be accompanied by an adult if younger or have an adult supervise. Due to this, the SVA is seeking far more adults this year to assist with the parade. There are 51 adults and 128 students (minors) required to supervise the barricades alone. Student community volunteer hours will be signed for this event. Please consider volunteering with your family or friends to help make this event possible.

This year’s parade takes place on Saturday, December 5, 2026. As usual, in order to make the parade a success, many volunteers will be needed for manning barricades, etc. from 5:30 – 9:00pm. Anyone who would like to help, including students needing community volunteer hours, should sign up today, at this link, and help the Stittsville Village Association light up the night!

Please consider volunteering with your family or friends to help make this event possible and another success for the community.

The SVA are also asking businesses and organizations wanting to enter a float to do so at your earliest convenience at this link.
