Stittsville’s Canada Day party is a family-friendly alternative to downtown

UPDATE: The event has been postponed until July 8 due to poor weather conditions. The grounds at Sacred Heart are extremely soggy and there is more rain and thunderstorms in the forecast for July 1.

This year’s Canada Day event in Stittsville will be a family-friendly alternative to the crowds downtown, complete with fireworks, local music, and lots of activities for kids.

The event is presented by the Stittsville Village Association, and runs from 1pm-10pm on the grounds of Sacred Heart High School (Abbott Road @ Shea Road, next to the Goulbourn Recreation Centre.)

Highlights of the free event include:

  • Free birthday cake and glow sticks
  • Family fun zone with games, inflatables & more
  • Big Sky Ranch Animal Sanctuary petting zoo (3pm-6pm)
  • Horse-drawn wagon rides (4pm-7pm)
  • Bricks 4 Kidz (LEGO) (3pm-6pm)
  • HoneyDrop Body Art Facepainting (3pm-7pm)
  • Food court featuring local food trucks

  • Live local stage entertainment, including Vicki Brittle, David DaCosta, Jimmy Leroux, Dianne & Steve Lynch, Lisa Kopil, The L.A. Connection. Andrew Waines, Rob Sands & Hardcover
  • Sing along to O Canada with Lyndon Slewidge at 7:30pm
  • Fireworks at 9:45 pm sharp (presented by Mattamy Homes)
