The August long weekend was another successful one for 15-year old Daniel Brown of Stittsville. In preparation for the October 2019 Obstacle Course Racing World Championship in the UK, Daniel competed in a weekend of Obstacle Spartan Races.
At the Ontario Trifecta Spartan races held at the Highland Nordic Ski Resort in Duntroon, Ontario (south of Collingwood), Daniel competed in three impressive races over the weekend.
Saturday, August 31 was his first race with a sprint of 5km with 20 obstacles to overcome. On Sunday, September 1, he did the Beast that included a sprint of 22km with 30 obstacles to conquer and on Monday, September 2, he competed in the Super that entailed a 12km sprint while confronting 25 obstacles. In all three races, he placed first in his age group of 14-17 receiving his Triple Trifecta for the racing season.
When we asked what he thought of the weekend races, Daniel said, “it was a fast, flat course which was a perfect training course for the World Championships. I’m also joining the Cross Country team at South Carleton — adding this to my training for London.”
