Machete-wielding suspect sought in retail robbery on Terry Fox Drive

The Ottawa Police Service Robbery Unit is investigating the robbery of a retail premise targeting cellular phones and is seeking the public’s assistance to identify the male suspect.

On January 2, 2015 at approximately 8:45pm, a lone male suspect entered a retail outlet situated at the Signature Centre located in the 400 block of Terry Fox Drive.  The suspect produced a large machete type knife in a sheath from a duffel bag he carried, and then made a demand for cellular phones.  The suspect obtained a quantity of phones and fled the premises.  There were no injuries.

The suspect is described as being of Middle Eastern descent, approximately 6’4” (193cm), medium build, wearing black track pants, white runners, a grey bomber jacket and a Yukon style hat with checkered black and grey fur on the ear flaps.  He also wore a head scarf to disguise his face (see attached pictures).
