Grace Odumo of local fashion blog 613 Style recently got a behind-the-scenes look at the Tanger Outlet stores under construction.
We asked her what stood out the most during her visit.
“I think it’s going to be a major hit. There’s something for men, women and children there to enjoy and if you get bored there’s a lot of seating and an outdoor fireplace to keep you warm,” she said. “The general layout and canopies will keep the majority of snow away.”
Here are some of her photos and notes from her recent tour, republished here with her permission. You can see more photos on her blog.
613 Style was treated to the exclusive, first media tour of the new Tanger Outlets opening up on Friday, October 17th. Although the opening date is quickly approaching, the outlet centre was still very much a construction zone. Social media assistant Winnie Odumo and I were equipped with steel toed boots and hard hats to complete our investigative fashion journalism duties.
The Tanger Outlets centre is literally like nothing Ottawa has ever seen before. It is a total of 293,000 square feet, has a built-in play structure are for children, outdoor fireplace, walk-out patio, free wifi, and many other luxurious amenities. Women are treated to over 50 washrooms, each intricately decorated with tiles and shutter doors, a baby changing station with comfy seating for mom & baby, and outdoor digital interactive stations.
Tanger Outlets brings with it many first-time to Ottawa stores, including Famous footwear, pictured above.
The Michael Kors outlet store (above) is neighbours with Coach, one of its biggest fashion rivals.
The circular space pictured below is the outdoor fireplace area. It will have plenty of seating and waste disposals that shoppers can use.
Here’s an inside look at the J.Crew outlet store below, it makes their new Rideau location look like a closet size-wise!
Next door to J.Crew will be a major ALDO outlet store. The brand will be distancing itself from its usual all-white everything decor in favour of dark blue/black walls.
What stores will you be checking out at the new mall? Will you shop less at traditional shopping centres now that there’s an outlet mall near Stittsvile? Add your comments below or email firstname.lastname@example.org
