Congratulations to our U14B team, the Flying Squirrels, who brought home silver medals from the Beaconsfield tournament last weekend. Head Coach Rob MacDonald shared this awesome report from the tournament:
Going undefeated into the finals, we ran into a great team from Bellechasse who handed us our fist loss of the season, 6-2. We’ve been having a great season, up to the finals we were 17-0! Amazing.
What humbles me the most…was the way in which the team dealt with the loss. No tears, just smiles. YES, they were disappointed. BUT they know that sportsmanship is more important than winning, and there is a level of pride on this team that even though they lost, they tried. We’re not going to win them all, and they are OK with that. They hugged one another, and praised one another, and gladly accepted their placement. The team we played was excellent. They were ready. They wanted it. They should have won, and they did. That doesn’t make the loss easier to take but in life sometimes that’s the case.
We were cheered on by our friends from the U14C Wild Spirits, who were also at the tournament and at same hotel. It was awesome to have the support and hang out together when we could. Thank you Wild Spirits!
This weekend was a humble reminder that we still need to put the work in 100% of the time. The kids are already talking about getting another winning streak going.
We wanted to share the post finals picture of our positivity hug!
Go Flying Squirrels!!
