Heidi Bell and Caroline Hollingworth are the founders of the HolliBell Foundation. The Foundation supports and raises funds through events and donations to provide affordable spay and neuter clinics; help families in times of need to cover veterinary bills; and, they provide emergency and general funding for rescues. It all began with Cupcakes for a Cause, their signature event, and evolved into the Hollibell Foundation.
This is the third year for the HolliBell Doggie Walk-a-Thon. Last year’s walk was virtual due to COVID. The doggie walk-a-thon is taking place on October 3, 2021 from 11:00am – 2:00pm at Sunset Farms, 6559 Hazeldean Road, and promises to be an exciting event. Sunset Farms is an outdoor beautiful, large space to walk and enjoy the fall colours. Sunset Farms is owned and operated by Grits Anglin, with close supervision from her pets, Willie the cat and Lucy the dog.
An introductory cookbook, Recipes to the Rescue Cookbook, is full of recipes, helpful tips, stories of the adoptable pets and information on rescues, will be available for purchase. There will be a lunch canteen on-site, along with homemade fall baking to take home. Coming from Smith Falls, Bone Appetit Pet Company will also be in attendance.
A special visit is being made by Harlow who is bringing along her owner, Ashley Tomassini-Labelle, the author of her book – Harlow’s Journey Home. The tale of Harlow is a heartwarming children’s book told through the eyes of Harlow waiting to find her forever home. Ashley will be selling and autographing their book.
Caroline shared with Stittsville Central, “In 2021, the HolliBell Foundation has really focused on helping families get their pets spayed and neutered. So far 280+ pets and over $23,000 has been sponsored for affordable/full spay and neuters. October we are sponsoring the Ontario SPCA and Humane Society’s Mobile Animal Wellness Services Unit to come to Arnprior for 2 days. As well, we will be sponsoring another day at the Lanark Leeds Grenville Spay and Neuter Clinic in Brockville at the end of October. So funds raised from the walk-a-thon event will help support this. This is our third year as the HolliBell Foundation and it will be our best year yet!”
To take part in the doggie walk-a-thon and support this worthy cause, you don’t require a dog – come with your friends and make a PAW donation. Registration is $20.00 per dog. Visit the HolliBell Foundation website to find out more of the extraordinary causes the Foundation supports. In 2019, HolliBell supported the Sultan Family with $400 to assist in having the hooves of the donkeys trimmed.
