Here’s a note from Kanata North councillor Marianne Wilkinson with an update on the Eagleson Road sidewalk situation. You may recall the odd situation last winter, when city staff stopped plowing the sidewalks on the Eagleson Road overpass because they were too narrow.
The contract to construct the two segments of a 1.8m concrete sidewalk along Eagleson Road has been signed and work is scheduled to be completed by the end of October. The two segments are between Campeau and the 417 westbound on-ramp and between the 417 off-ramp to the 417 eastbound off-ramp. There will be no lane reductions during the AM and PM peak period. At all other times, two southbound lanes on Eagleson will be maintained between Campeau and the 417 westbound on-ramp and one southbound lane on Eagleson will be maintained between the 417 eastbound on-ramp and the 417 eastbound off-ramp. There will be no impact to the highway ramps. Work on the bridge portion by the Ministry of Transportation is expected to follow.
