Summer is passing us by, the kids are back in school and you are looking for something to do. Here are some events that you may want to consider.

Tonight, September 6th, Brew Revolution a newly opened craft brewery and taproom, is bringing us live music starting at 7:30 pm. Chris Mellor, who plays in the Huntley Slim, (check his band out on Facebook here) will be the entertainment. Drop by and try one of their brews while enjoying the music. Brew Revolution is located at 6081 Hazeldean Road (the Jackson Trails mall for those familiar with this location).

Another session of Yoga in the Park is taking place on September 7 at the Rotary W.J. Bell Peace Park (Main Street, S. and Fernbank/Cherry) starting at 10:00 am. If you need more information or if the weather does not cooperate, you may want to contact ceragagnon@gmail.com.

For those who knew Lloyd Maguire as the long-time owner, with his brother Howard, of the Stittsville News, there will be a Celebration of Life on September 7 at the Stittsville Legion from 1:00 – 4:00 pm. Lloyd died August 13th at the age of 87.

September 8 brings us to the 7th annual Stittsville Kidney Walk and Funday at the Stittsville United Church (Stittsville Main and Fernbank Road). The 5K walk starts at 10:30 am with registration and ends at 1:00 pm. But that is not all – after the walk enjoy a free BBQ lunch and tons of Funday Sunday activities all taking place at the Church. Come out and support these two incredible events!

Market at the Barn is back after a ‘short’ vacay last weekend. On Sunday, you can drop by between 10:00 am and 2:00 pm to pick-up your fresh veggies and lots more. Here are the vendors you can expect to see this week — Suzanne Tate Certified Nutrition Practitioner, Blackstar Urban Farm, Doughbaby Doughnuts, Four B Farms, Raw4U, Taste Blooms,  @holmespun ice cream, Sultan Sanctuary the Junior Entrepeneur, Munster Farm,  Charlotte’s Bath Bombs, Bees and Trees and Joys of Amaranth. The junior entrepreneur will be selling sunflowers for their rescue farm Sultan Farm Sanctuary! Come support the local farms and businesses, as well as our junior entrepreneurs who venture into being our next brightest local business owners! You can find out more at  https://www.facebook.com/barnfarmersmarket/.

All weekend you can visit the Sultan Farm Sanctuary to tour their 8 acres of sunflowers. Leave a donation for their rescued animals and take a tour. Note the terrain can be a bit tricky for those with mobility issues. You can bring your pets – photo ops will be available at various times. You can visit the Sultan property at 8520 Flewellyn Road, Ashton.

And one more, an incredible TV event, you can watch Bianca Andreescu take on Serena Williams in the US Open showdown on Saturday, September 7 at 4:00 pm on TSN. #ShetheNorth
