About our guides:

Eleanor Thomson:

Eleanor has completed numerous Baseline Documentation Reports (BDRs) for MMLT, including the BDR for the Poole Family Nature Sanctuary. These reports document the heritage character and condition of a property at the time of its acquisition by MMLT. They include detailed species inventories and the identification of all tree species present on the property. Eleanor continues to support MMLT by leading guided tours throughout the year and completing species inventories.

Owen Clarkin:

Owen has been studying the trees of Eastern Ontario as a dedicated amateur since the age of 4. Since finishing a terminal degree in the natural sciences in 2012, he is more seriously exploring topics in tree identification and ecology from an Eastern Ontario perspective, together with a core group of colleagues. In addition to leading public nature hikes, Owen regularly contributes to local and worldwide plant identification forums on social media. This includes visits to MMLT properties for species inventory events.
