Councillor Gower encourages everyone to get involved

Councillor Glen Gower has started some new messaging in Stittsville. He would like to see everyone to ‘get involved’ in your community. Involvement is beneficial to the health of a person and integral to the enhancement of a community as Gower notes in his comments below.

The healthiest communities around the world are the ones where the most people are getting involved in community life. Measure health any way you want – physical health, mental health, social health, economic health – the indicators all improve when you have lots of people taking part.

So many of the groups and traditions that we love in Stittsville would not be possible without volunteersThey all need lots of people pitching in to make them happen. This summer we’re encouraging everyone to do something – big or small – that helps our community.

Clean up a park, fundraise for a cause you love, organize a street party. In your neighbourhood, at work, at school. Get involved!

–Councillor Glen

There are many opportunities to get involved in the community over the summer at local events – like Canada Day – or even cutting your neighbours grass. Seek them out and #getinvolved!
