Having followed Canadian politics for over a decade, investigative journalist Martin Lukacs released The Trudeau Formula: Seduction and Betrayal in an Age of Discontent in 2020. The Trudeau Formula, was called “a helluva book, sharp and underrated” by Paul Wells and praised by Naomi Klein for its “meticulous reporting and clear-eyed analysis.”
Martin is now releasing his timely and latest book entitled, The Poilievre Project: A radical blueprint for corporate rule on April 10th.
With a high-stakes federal election taking place, Martin’s new book is set to shake up the conversation about Pierre Poilievre and what his leadership could mean for Canada. He takes a deep dive into the forces shaping Poilievre’s rise and his policy agenda.
In a conversation, Martin tells Stittsville Central, “I wrote the book quickly from an outgrowth of thoroughly investigated articles written for The Breach. I want to ensure that voters are informed. The established media didn’t estimate the threat Poilievre posed and accepted his playbook – hook, line and sinker.”
“I want to expose his radical vision for reshaping Canada; a compelling one. He will shake things up. The coalition of forces getting behind him now presents a different landscape. His playbook is to ride on people’s anger with his often mentioned cost of living crisis and inequality. He then hands the keys to the one percent in Canada: tech oligarchs, real estate tycoons, oil barons, and Bay Street billionaires – all confident as his backers to profit from a Conservative government in Ottawa,” continued Martin.
Martin ended, “He’s dressed up his agenda as serving the people.”
The book lays out what to expect if Poilievre takes office: sweeping deregulation, deep cuts, and a wave of privatization. It’s hard-hitting, thoroughly researched, and at times humorous. More than just a political exposé, the book is an urgent read for anyone trying to make sense of where Canada could be headed.
The Poilievre Project is published by Breach Books, a new arm of the independent outlet The Breach, which was named Canada’s best small-sized media outlet in 2024 by the Digital Publishing Awards. The book will also be available at Indigo and independent bookstores. Prior to release, Martin had received 500 pre-orders for his book. He and his team were kept busy on April 9, parceling and sending the copies out.
Martin Lukacs is an award-winning journalist and author and is currently managing editor of The Breach. He was previously an environmental writer for The Guardian and has written for The New York Review of Books, The Walrus, and The Toronto Star. He’s the author of The Trudeau Formula: Seduction and Betrayal in an Age of Discontent and a co-author of the Leap Manifesto. David Suzuki calls Martin, “a journalist I depend on to inform me about what is really going on.”
I am disappointed that you chose to publish this article before the Federal election, as it appears to be an attempt to influence voters’ decisions. While I respect your right to promote Lukac’s book, I believe your timing is inappropriate.
Very disappointed to see this anti Poilievre ad just before elections. I thought this paper was not biased!
Have you heard this in your news…
1.Mark Carney is the citizen of three countries. https://www.change.org/p/revoke-mark-carney-s-canadian-citizenship
2.He won’t say where he pays taxes. https://ca.news.yahoo.com/lilley-carney-less-clear-where-201506241.html
Brookfield, the company which he chaired, at his suggestion, moved to New York to avoid tariffs just before he was elected to the Liberal party and became our prime minister. https://nationalpost.com/news/canada/tories-say-carney-supported-brookfield-move-new-york
While he chaired Brookfield they borrowed $276 million the Bank of China. It’s heavily invested in Chinese real estate, about $3 billion. https://www.thebureau.news/p/brookfields-deep-ties-to-chinese
Brookfield Asset Management avoided approximately $5.3 billion in Canadian taxes between 2021 and 2024
“Mr. Carney thinks that taxes are simply for normal people, and not for millionaires or billionaires like him,” the Bloc leader said.
https://www.ndp.ca/news/mark-carney-has-helped-brookfield-avoid-53-billion-taxes-2021
Carney does not want Canada to build new pipelines.
. That means that the Maritimes still have to buy their oil from Arabia or the US( controlled by Trump). Ontario does get its oil from out west, but it has to go through a pipelines that goes through Wisconsin ( again controlled by Trump)
His company, Brookfield…
His company brook field is buying US. Colonial Pipelines for an estimated $9 billions

Plus how is he going to pay the billions dollars a week on the Canadian debt? The Liberals spent more money in ten years of power than all the prime ministers from John A MacDonald to 2015 combined.
Plus Carneys company is buying a pipeline in the US , I think I read 9 billion worth. Not to forget that he is beholden to China. His company borrowed 250 million from a China just prior to running from the leadership
