We are an enthusiastic group of volunteers dedicated to providing Kiwanis services to the children and youth in the Kanata and Stittsville community. Our Music for Young Children classes are about having fun while learning the best quality music program. We teach in a variety of children’s learning styles and they learn to play through a multi-sensory approach. We sing, we move, we play games, we learn through characters, we compose, we play rhythm instruments, we play the keyboard, we assign age-appropriate homework that may involve cutting or coloring . . . and through all of this, we have fun! Students learn quicker because of the hands on fun and we keep them engaged for the hour-long lesson! They don’t even realise how much of a solid foundation in music they are building.
Teaching budding rock stars since 1997, this is not your average music school. Our motto is SHINE and every student who enters our studios is treated like a rock star. Our teaching style is unique and our techniques and skill development give young musicians the edge in local talent searches, musical auditions, and international competitions. We make learning fun, with a big focus on performing on a pro stage and many open mics, community events, YouTube concerts and more. We work closely with all our families to help get our students noticed on social media for their skills, confidence and artistic talent. Our students tend to stay with us for years, and we follow their progress into adulthood. We offer lessons for all ages, in vocals, guitar (acoustic, electric and bass), drums, piano, ukulele, mandolin and banjo. We also offer shared lessons and group lessons like our teen rock band, The Crushers (age 13-17), U-Rock’s Junior Band (age 10-12), The Roxies our all-girl vocal group (age 7-10), and PoPatrol our intro to music group for little stars age 5-7. PLUS, summer lessons and famous U-Rock Band Camps. We also have monthly songwriting workshops during the school year and a successful Artist Development program.

Emily Brown, Nationally Accredited Photographer in Newborn, Child and Infant, Maternity, and Family, and proud owner of Ottawa’s popular Diamondview Photography, specializes in newborn and family portraiture.
